How to prepare IELTS Reading at home
Reading is
one of the most frightening module IELTS has. We have seen students not taking
IELTS just because of reading module. When students get to read unknown words,
intricate sentence structures, scientific terms and information hidden in the
passages and time also becomes their enemy. Is reading really that frightening?
Yes it is. But IELTS Reading module can
be a booster to your score. Because everything is given in the passages you
just need to hone your reading skills and speed.
In this blog
post we will discuss the ways can help you become a good reader and obtain
desired bands in the module. If you already tried and want to fix your reading
problem than this post is for you. For beginner, this post is a pure gold.
Reading is one of the most important skills every learner must possess.
Step 1:-
Grammar and Vocabulary
Start your
journey with learning English Grammar to understand the sentence structures.
Many students try to make out the meaning of text they read without knowing the
grammar and it leads them nowhere. Don’t skip Grammar. It is going to be your
best ally. Learn new words as more as you can. To test your grammar learning
and improving vocabulary start reading interesting story, daily news articles
and editorials of newspapers. Spend at least 10 days doing this activity at
least one hour a day. We assure you after ten days you are going to feel better
with English. News articles and editorials you can read in your mobile phone
while travelling or whenever you have time. More you read more you learn.
Step 2:-
Magazine and Newspaper
Get some
magazines and newspaper and read at least 1 hour a day. Hunt for new words and
try to sense the meaning according to the text. Give a close look to Title,
Heading and Sub-Heading to figure out what the text is all about. Magazines and
newspapers cover wide range of topics and you can select the topic and building
your understanding around it. Don’t forget to underline the words and sentences
which resonates you.
Step 3:-
Cambridge IELTS Test & other reading material.
Get
Cambridge IELTS books and other reading material to start the final phase.
Every day you are take two tests. There are 3 passages in the reading test and
lasts for one hour. Do this activity twice a day for next 15 days. Don’t do this
online either you borrow the books or download and print the material. Practice
reading as more as you can. We assure you if you candidly follow these 3 steps
reading won’t frighten you. You will be able to hit the required score. Taking
more tests can be a real booster to your result.
