Past Continuous
Tense:- Rules, Sentences and 100 Common Sentences.
1. Radha was preparing her
breakfast. 2. Ram was watching TV. 3. Sohan was dancing. 4. You were
waiting for the bus. 5. They were quarrelling. 6. He was sitting
in the garden. 7. My mother was moping the floor. 8 Puneet was riding
a bike. 9. Children were shouting. 10. We were basking by the fire. 11. The
dog was barking. 12. They were singing with joy. 13. I was
singing. 14. The train was whistling. 15. People were gathering
in the park.
जब भी english के किसी वाक्य में Was / Were और Verb की Form के साथ
ING ( Dancing) आ जाये तो वह Past Continuous Tense का वाक्य है . ऊपर दिए 15 वाक्यों को एक बार और पढ़े और देखें
की क्या किसी वाक्य में Was / Were और Verb की Form के साथ ING दिया हुआ है .

हम सिखने जा रहे है Past Continuous
Tense- भूत निरन्तर काल , जब भी किसी वाक्य के अंत में रहा था , रही
थी और रहे थे आ जाए तो वह Past Continuous Tense होता है !
कुछ हिंदी के वाक्य
:- मैं चाय पी रहा था , वे नाच रहे थे , तुम सोच रहे थे , वह खाना पक्का रही थी ,
वह english सिख रही था, बच्चे आ रहे थे , वह दिल्ली जा रहा था , वे काम कर थे थे,
सुरेश फसल काट रहा था , वे पेड़ो को पानी दे रहे थी , हवा चल रही थी , पत्ते हवा
में उड़ रहे थे , मै कुछ सोच रहा था , वह कपडे धो रही थी , वे हंस रहे थे .
ऊपर दिए हिंदी के
वाक्यों को ध्यान से पढ़े से हमे पता चलता है की वाक्य Past Continuous Tense के थी क्यूंकि
इनके अंत में रहा था , रही थी और रहे थे आ रहे थी. कहने का मतलब जब किसी वाक्य के
अंत में रहा था , रही थी और रहे थे आ जाये
तो वह Past Continuous Tense का वाक्य थी !
Past Continuous
Tense में Helping Verb - Was / Were का use होता है
इसमें Verb की 1st
Form के साथ ING लगता थी .
I, He,
She, It, Any Name & Singular के साथ Helping Verb – Was का use
होता है
You, We,
They, & Plural के साथ -Were का प्रयोग होता है.
Sentence
Formation- Subject + Was/ Were + 1st Form + ING + Object
मैं चाय पी रहा था- I was
taking tea , वे नाच रहे थे- They were dancing , तुम सोच रहे थे- You were thinking , वह खाना
पक्का रही थी- She was cooking food , वह english सिख रही था
– He was learning English , बच्चे आ रहे थे- Children were
coming , वह दिल्ली जा रहा था- He was going to Delhi , वे काम कर थे- They were working , सुरेश फसल काट
रहा था- Suresh was harvesting the crop , वे पेड़ो को पानी
दे रहे थी- They were watering the trees , हवा चल रही थी –
The wind was blowing , पत्ते हवा में उड़ रहे थे- The leaves
were flying , मै कुछ सोच रहा था- I was thinking , वह कपडे धो रही थी- She was washing clothes , वे
हंस रहे थे- They were laughing .

1. वह बुढा हो रहा था – He was getting old.
2. क्या वे आ रहे थे ?- Were they coming?
3. मै देख रहा थे .- I was watching.
4. वे कुछ कह रहे थे .- They were saying something.
5. वह तुम्हे क्यों डांट रही थी ?- Why was he rebuking / scolding you?
6. सरकार नई योजनाए बना रही थी.- The government was making new schemes.
7. लोग नारे लगा रहे थे – People were shouting the slogans.
8. पक्षी उड़ रहे थे – The birds were flying.
9. वह तुम्हे देख रहा था- He was looking at you / He was
watching you.
10. वे काम कर रहे थे .- They were working.
11. सरकार महंगाई कम करने की सोच रही थी .- The Government was thinking to
decrease the inflation.
12. डीजल के दाम बढ़ रहे थे . the prices of diesel were increasing.
13. राकेश कहीं जा रहा था – Rakesh was going somewhere.
14. वे अख़बार बाँट रहे रहे – They were distributing the newspapers.
15. लोग घरेलु सामान खरीद रहे थे – they were buying domestic goods.
16. मेरे भाई आ रहा थे – My brother was coming.
17. वे सो रहे थे – they were sleeping .
18. क्या वे कुछ कर रहे थे?- Were they doing anything?
19. बारिश हो रही थी – It was raining.
20. वे शादि में नाच रहे थे . They were dancing in the marriage
21. वह अमरीका से आ रहा था- He was coming from America
22. वे क्यों लड़ रहे रहे थे ? Why were they fighting?
23. पुलिस छानबीन कर रही थी . The Police were/was investigating/
inquiring.
24. कोई तुम्हे पुछ रहा था . -Someone was asking about you.
25. मै कोशिश कर रहा था .- I was trying
26. वे बैठे थे – They were sitting
27. वह बहार खड़ा था – He was standing outside
28. कोई तुम्हारा इंतज़ार कर रहा था – Someone was waiting for you.
29. उसके दिमाग में कुछ चल रहा था – Something was going in his mind.
30. वह याद करने की कोशिश कर रहा था .- They were trying to recall.
31. वे आपना समय बरबाद कर रहे थे . – They were wasting their time.
32. तुम क्या सोच रहे थे . – What were you thinking?
33. वह कपडे सील रही है . – She was stitching the cloth.
34. राधा कपड़ो को इस्त्री कर रही थी – Radha was ironing the clothes.
35. वह घर की सफाई कर रहे थे .- They were cleaning the house.
36. क्या वे सफदी कर रहे थे ? Were they whitewashing the house?
37. कुछ आढती
फसलो की बोली लगा रहे थे ? Some Commission agents were bidding the crops?
38. क्या वे बोली कम दामो में लगा रहे थे ?-Were they bidding the crops on low
prices?
39. क्या वे बोली उच्चे दामो में लगा रहे थे ?-Were they bidding the crops on high
prices?
40. मै उनकी बाते सुन रहा था – I was listening to them.
41. तूफ़ान हमारे शहर की ओर बढ़ रहा था – The typhoon was heading to our city.
42. लोग सुरक्षित स्थानों की ओर दौड़ रहे थे – People were running to safe/safer
places
43. हर कोई इधर उधर भाग रहा था – everyone was running here and there.
44. प्रसाशन लोगो की मद्द कर रहा था – The administration was helping people
45. सरकार लोगो को हर प्रकार की सहायता दे रही
थी – The government was providing every
sort/type of help to people.
46. सरकार वालंटियर्स को तैनात कर रही थी – The government was deploying the
volunteers.
47. प्रसाशन लोगो से शांति बनाये रखने की अपील
कर रहा था . The administration
was appealing people to maintain peace.
48. वे किसान आन्दोलन को बदनाम कर रहे थे – They were defaming the farmer’s movement
/ agitation
49. कानून दोषियों को सजा दे रहा था. The law was punishing the culprits.
50. रात कोई तुमारा दरवाज़ा खटखटा रहा था – Someone was knocking at your door last
night.
