IELTS Academic Writing Task -2 Place Nigeria – January 2022
In the future, it is expected that some countries will
have a higher
percentage of
older people. Is this a positive or negative development?
Model Answer
It is true that the numbers of older
people have been on rise in my countries and it seems that they will lack
young population in the future. I think the phenomenon has some drawbacks
that we are going to discuss in the essay. In my opinion, growing number of
elderly men and women imposes burden on the government and hamper the
economic growth also. The governments have to provide basic amenities to
their old age people such as healthcare, food and social security and so on. These
expenditures imbalance the budgets and cause unwanted delay in other
significant development projects. Falling number of taxpayers and increasing
number of pension holders’ forces governments to ask for the loan and it is a
negative development worldwide. One more negative aspect of ageing population
is, it sometimes forces countries to put load of taxes on young people. The
competition in job market poses lot of difficulties for deserving young
people. The future will be challenging for the
countries where the population of young people is stagnant old age people is
growing. The countries such as Japan, Italy, France and Portugal where old
age population is above 60% and in upcoming years it may be more than 80%.
These countries face severe healthcare issues many people suffer from stress
and anxiety related diseases. The dependence on foreign health professionals
has doubled in a decade these countries. These nations pay higher
remuneration for their services. Some countries have to acquire the loans to
meet multifarious needs of elderly people and other civilians. To summarize, ageing population has
become a serious issue and in upcoming years this occurrence seems to invite
more problems for the nations. I also
believe that senior citizens are valuable they must be regarded and served. |
