IELTS Writing Task 2 –January 2022

Whether or not someone achieves their aims is mostly by a question of luck .

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Model Answer –

The role of luck in man’s success and failure has always been debatable. However some people believe that luck plays a crucial role to gain prosperity. I partially agree that one needs divine intervention to advance in life.

To begin with, many people are born in prosperous families and they already have resources and opportunities to gain ultimate success and fortunes while some struggle to meet their day-to-day needs. I think this is the matter of the luck, for instance Sanjay Dutt is famous bollywood star and he has been highly successful in this career because his father used to be an actor.  Sanjay Dutt did not have to work hard to earn a lucky break the industry welcomed him with open arms. While a majority of talented actors and actress keep waiting for a role for many years. Men and women who belong to political families are often seen contesting elections even if they don’t deserve to be elected. I consider it is all because they luckily have what it needs to be on the top.

It is not a pragmatic approach to depend upon the blessing I believe that men and women are capable of achieving that they truly desire. The history shares numerous stories to support that people can be successful and reach the pinnacle by working hard. The story of Abraham Lincoln proves that if one is determined he can surpass those who wait for a breakthrough or heavenly aid. Mr. Lincoln worked hard and tried his best and gained what he wanted though, he came from a deprived family. Another example of Shahrukh Khan famously known as the king of bollywood he achieved the status by working tirelessly. One thing cannot be ignored that his son is lucky enough to have him as his father. That’s why people believe that luck attributes to success.

To summarize, if one is completely depend upon luck I think it is unrealistic idea people must work to earn luck and fortune otherwise they have to repent.
